Hi,

I am a Canadian married to a Malaysian wife but she has PR status in Canada and we are living in Vancouver. We want to work and live in Australia so I've been looking for jobs there. My profession is a Programmer and it is under the Skilled Jobs list. The jobs in Australia that I have seen say that you must be living in Australia and must be able to work in Australia. Since I do not have a Visa I'm not sure whether I can apply for those jobs yet.
If I want to immigrate to Australia with my wife, what options do I have and what do I have to do?

If I apply for a job and apply for a Skilled Visa would my wife be able to come with me? Or do I have to apply for a Family Visa for her? Of course we would like to go at the same time (not me going there first, and then wait a few years before she can come). Do any of you have any experience in this or have any information? Procedures and timelines would be really helpful.
