Delay in processing of Pakistani Applicants?

You must be aware that most of Pakistani GSM applicants are facing excessive delays in processing of their applicantans, some people are even clamiing that no GSM visas are being issued to Pakistanis since April 2009
What do you think is the cause of this dealy and how long will the situation remain same like this?

lets just wait for the new fiscal year to start, since quota for this year must be almost finished so we should not expect much activity right now, the start of new fiscal year will give us idea that how things are turning out for Pakistani applicants

The cause of delay is obvious. Pakistan is in spotlight from some time. Every now and then you hear the word "terrorism/terrorists" being associated with Pakistan, which true by the way to some extent. Australian wants to make 100% sure before they grant somebody immigration that this person is clear and is not a security risk to Australia. For this reason they are conducting extensive security checks on Pakistanis. You don't hear from people from other V V V HR countries such as Yemen, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran etc due to the fact that there are perhaps very few applicants from these countries and also they may not be discussing on forums as we do as much.

Answering second part of your question, I think the situation will get worst.

but that is not fair, why are they processing student applicants from Pakistan, people who go on student visa pose as much risk as the PR migrants ?

well what i know, people from Pakistan have got GSM after April 2009, but i can feel they are very few and far. If DIAC is not interested in giving visas to Pakistanis than why the proceed further (like medical etc..)..

we are now stuck with no option other than to wait.......till we get a refusal, grant or C&K!

and when had that applicant lodged his application?

I also find it very interesting that most of the agents have a big collection of assessment certificates from EA and ACS which they have displayed prominently as 'success cases'
however, I don't remember seeing the Grant Letter from DIAC at any agents office!

It would be interesting to know how may people got visas last year or this year by contacting their agents. I applied by myself and I don't know any agents, but those people who actually used agents or have contact information can inquire from their agents and can post the number of successful cases from Pakistan on this forum. This will give other people hope and some idea of timeline.

Pakistani Agents will never tell you t he truth, whatever they say should be taken with a pinch of salt
My agent does say that there have been successful cases for people who have applied after May 09, however I don't really believe in this
The situation at the internet is open before you, I have combed forum after forum and have not seen a single Pakistani who has recently got grant

I again tactfully asked my agent and it appears that my fear was true
They have not received a single successful case among applicants who applied after April/May09
He even told me that one of his cases which was lodged in Feb09 is still stuck!

The Quota for visa has not been ended yet. Because people from all over the world are getting GMS visas everyday except Pakistan. The reason could be Pakistani Govt Or may be Australian Agencies involved in security clearance.
    HR (MODL+CSL)Application Lodged : December 18,2009.
CO: Feb 19,2010, All Docs MET except Medical.
    Requested Form-80 (9/03/2010). :fingerscrossed:

    Hello Guys.
I am from Karachi. I think the reason for this delay is security clearance because the DIAC will need to do security clearance from the country we reside and that is taking time in our case. I was going on AUS student visa last year and they took around 4 months for security clearance.
