I hope that they can also complete the security checks for GSM visas in around 4 months, logically thinking checks regarding security should be same for immigrants as well as students

I think it's not at all sensible to have a cap on the basis of one's nationality.Cap Bill is about sm particular occupation/subclass etc.

Yes, I doubt that they can single out a nationality like that

is the question directed at me ?
If you ask me, than I don't think that they will cap on base of nationality, at-least they will never openly admit that they are following any such route

I think the immigration Minister had made it clear the main purpose of the capping bill was to deal with the pre Sept 2007 applications, so that DIAC will be able to save itself from any law suits and such.
I think that you should not worry much if your occupation is in new new SOL

I have seen people contact them, they also don't give you any definite answer like DIAC
    so its pretty much useless
They basically just tell that you security check is in process according to the priority assigned to it by the DIAC
here is the Link to Online Complaint Form (Immigration): Inspector General of Intelligence and Security IGIS contact from for GSM applicants

Its my first day on this website. I read all the posts related to delays for Pakistani applicants. I also checked on the BE Update timelines. I think most of us are too quick to conclude that Pakistanis are not getting Visas. We are from HR country and thus we have to undergo some security checks. These checks take about 8 months to complete. So wait before u conclude that we are not getting Visas.
Applied (175)15 Apr, 09. Applied VIC SS 19 Apr, 09. Got SS 18 Jun, 09. Form 1100 8 July, 09. Got CO on 5 Aug, 2009. Medicals Finalized 8 Oct, 09. Processing recommenced Dec, 09. Internal checks results awaited.

    Hi,
I think the security checks in all visas are same however day by day they are tightening the security checks especially for pakis. But again its all depend from case to case. I hope every pakistani applicant will get the grant soon. Guys please pray for all. I haven't managed to lodge my application

    Hi Dear,
I am also under this game since September last year and have full plan for OZ immigration but problems are arising one after another. I have got skills assessment since January 2010, have done IELTS too but due to 8 Feb changes I am less with 5 points because I dont have 7 bands in each though every thing was ready and I had a plan to lodge 175 in 1st week of Feb but just before 2-3 days 8 feb changes announce .

The current status is I have applied for QLD SS, but due to DIAC temporary suspention my SS application is on hold.
